Catnap time at Calla. This is the main room of my cattery where adult females live.
They have each picked their spot for naps. The main room also contains the work area,
show closet and grooming area. The entire cattery is connected to my house and is accessible
from inside or outside the house.

Can I please share the pillow with you?
We try very hard to make the cattery feel like a real home. That way they get used to
furniture and other household items.

One of our cattery "brag" walls. We have
several walls dedicated to our CFA and TICA Regional and International Awards.
The large cabinet is the "Show" closet where we keep all of our
show curtains and show supplies.

The working area! Here's where we prepare food, clip claws, brush cats, wash faces, etc.
All our supplies are stored here within steps of the working area.

|
The other 1/2 of the cattery is the kitten room, where kittens that are 3 months+ come
to play and hang out while they wait for
their new mommies and daddies to pick
them up. Play time is serious time...
here 3 American kittens are
hunting down a feather toy.

Hey! You woke us up for a picture???

Grooming is an daily activity at Calla.
We are fortunate to have professional drying equipment where the cats are warm air dried.
The cattery also has it's own air conditioning/heating
and a bathing room with holding areas where the
cats soak in shampoo until they are squeaky clean.

The Persians at Calla line up to be groomed. Daily brushing helps to keep them in
great condition... look Mom, no tangles!

Shhhh! Quiet please when you enter the Calla Maternity Ward and Nursery!
This area is off-limits to visitors because we don't want to upset our
new mothers. They come out to play and exercise each day, but spend most of their
time feeding and cleaning and sleeping with their kittens.
Each mama has her own 6 foot wide area where she delivers her babies and cares
them until they are approximately 8 weeks old. Calla Nursery is fully equipped for
normal kitten delivery and post-natal care. The 6-8 week olds also play
and exercise in this room.

New kittens are introduced to the cattery slowly
so they can play together without worrying too
much about the new environment.

|
Last, but not least is the cattery TV. It's off right now, because it's naptime.
But the kitties like it to be tuned into the Animal Planet channel... oh yes,
Calla Cats have Cable TV. Of course, I enjoy it, too! I get to watch a movie while
I care for my cats!
